Julia is an awesome coach who helped me with perhaps the one thing holding me back - my mindset. Whatever your fitness goals are, mindset is key. I'm not talking about changing your whole life to hit those big squat numbers or the 3 minute mile. I'm talking about understanding that, for most of us, fitness has to fit INTO your life, and beating yourself up for missing a gym day doesn't get you anywhere!

I’ve been working with Julia for six months, and have made more progress than I ever expected both physically and mentally. Julia makes every session fun, personalised and effective, really paying attention to the little things that help you achieve the big things!
Julia took a lot of time to understand what I wanted to achieve, what my motivation was, and what I was capable of. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve told her I hate her, but also lost count of how many times I’ve thanked her for being amazing. She really pays attention to what your body needs, and although it can leave you sore in weird places (foot arches?! - ouch!), you’ll thank her later!
The sessions are fun, and focused. You never feel like you’re just ‘filling time’, and everything you do has a benefit to it, and a well thought out reason behind it.
My goals are focused around judo performance, and Julia took the time to research the sport and work out what kind of movements and programmes would be effective for me.
One of the biggest things Julia has helped me with is my confidence and self-esteem. I’ve gone from trying to avoid looking at myself in the mirror whenever possible at the start of the year, to actively looking and appreciating my muscle gains! Everybody needs a Julia on their team!

I'm a competitive powerlifter and I love working out, but repeated gym closures during pandemic times have been very challenging for me. We did a 'Find your why' exercise at the beginning in order to better understand my underlying motivations and support systems, and we ended up referring back to this during our weekly check-ins when things got difficult.

I was a complete newbie to the world of physical training before starting with Julia. For the first 23 years of my life I did basically zero physical exercise. The lockdown took a toll on my physical health, and so I decided I needed a change. I was very lucky to come across Julia, who took me in with patience and taught me the ABCs of fitness. The fact that she is always so encouraging and positive, means that I never felt self-conscious about my lack of ability and I was always motivated to do better. She has a very open personality and is very approachable, which means she will always answer your questions and explain why you are doing certain things. The mere fact that she made me enjoy physical activity which I used to loathe speaks volumes about her training style. Moreover, her attention to detail meant that she helped me improve on things I would have ignored otherwise such as the right posture when doing an exercise. I now feel much more confident to do exercise on my own!

Julia is an excellent personal trainer who in just a few months' time, single-handedly transformed my disdain for exercise into appreciation, and my unhealthy relationship towards my body into a firmly held belief that my body and "me" are allies (and in fact have fun getting along). Looking back, I would say that this change Julia has brought about in me is of comparable magnitude to other changes in my life brought about by over two years of therapy.
For me, the three main qualities that make Julia's coaching really incredible are her infectiously positive and highly empathetic personality, her hyper-personalised approach to training, and her strongly motivating and realistic philosophy towards health.
In my "Find your why" exercise with her (and further discussions down the line), Julia made sure to fully dissect my underlying desires, but also understand why my past lifestyle habits were what they were. This meant that the whole process of change has felt natural and motivated rather than prescriptive, or worse, "corrective". In every session I have, there is always at least one obvious moment when I realise I've pushed myself harder than I otherwise would have solely because Julia's inspiring coaching. In my workouts with her, I often gain profoundly new perspectives about my body (for example, my posture, or how I jump), and Julia allows me to open up and explore that relationship further. Her care really shows when in future workouts she reprises these concepts and gives me more challenging variations on a theme, and hence more to think about. Not only does this improve my quality of life (fewer back problems!), it also makes life just more fun ('ooh, I should remember to tell Julia about this stretch that felt extra good, she will probably explain why').
Since Julia's sessions are hyper-personalised, I see the value of everything I do. This makes sessions educational and intellectually stimulating, besides just being workouts. For me, the flexibility of her program was key in ensuring I don't give up or lose the "this is for me" feeling. The structure of mixing familiar exercises with new exercises means that I have a tangible way of feeling my growth as it happens to me, which I find very fulfilling. Finally, (after years of me living life hedonistically and detached from my body), Julia's philosophy was the first (and I cannot stress this enough) philosophy that caused a paradigm shift in me - the enthusiastic voice that screams "Best friends with Julia time" every time I wince during a punishing tricep-dip definitely improved the chances of me being receptive to such a change!
